Two city footballers in the U-19 National squad

Rookies from the Garden City, Anto Xavier and Edwin have been included in the U-19 Indian squad. The juniors will represent their country in the U-19 Weifang Cup in Shandong, China.
Anto Xavier

Defender Edwin is a product of the DYSS, Bangalore. Anto Xavier hails from Austin Town and plays in the midfield position. Anto has represented BDFA B Division team Southern Blues.

Exactly a year ago, Anto represented India U-16 team in an exposure trip, Coca-Cola International 2010 football camp in Tuks village, Pretoria, South Africa.

The team leaves for Shanghai on July 10 for the preparatory camp and will then travel to Shandong for the U-19 Weifang Cup, which kicks-off on August 1.

FC Benfica, FC Guadalajara Chivas, China’s U-19 National Team, and FC Chunna Dragons have already confirmed their participation in the tourney.

The U-19 squad defeated Sesa Football Academy 10-0 in their last practice match today. Rajinder Kumar scored a hat trick, Sumit Passi scored a brace while Pronoy Halder, Yumnam Meetei, Malswamfela, Brandon Fernandes and Souvik Das scored one apiece.

A R Khaleel re-elected as KSFA President

A R Khaleel was elected again as the President of KSFA at the AGM today, at Bangalore Football Stadium. Khaleel has been the office bearer of KSFA for 6 decades in various capacities.

Also, Khaleel saab as he is popularly known doubles up as the Vice President of AIFF Executive Committee for the 2009-12 period.

Post AGM, the Governing Board (GB) assembled at the KSFA board room to elect the KSFA office bearers for term of 2 years. The KSFA bodies stressed on running the state-level football in a professional way and uplift the grass-root level.
